Taras Yoom (born as Taras Zheltyshev) is a multidisciplinary artist, author of the Yoomoota — a whole universe at the intersection of art and design, full of its own various planets, inhabitants and many more. They’re shown in a wide diversity and versatility, but most importantly: they represent us.
The Yoomoota’s artworks span collectible sculptures, furniture with biomorphic forms, paintings and mixed media pieces. From an obsession for medical and scientific studies, the artist applies a constant flow of knowledge to his works presenting a deep understanding of biology and nature. His Bangkok-based workshop is an experimental space where various techniques and genres converge to investigate the vast realm of physical phenomena and socially relevant subjects.
Yoomoota Universe is a projection of our bodies and minds, representing everything that exists in humanity on a global scale, manifesting the fantastic inner world of humanity, with all the phenomena of our life. It sets a new art and design trend that combines natural forms and lines of the human body with animation style and pertinent surrealism elements.
The universe consists of at least 23 planets, each inhabited by various characters. Here, you can find planets of emotions, addictions, the body, brands, pleasures, sins or childhood. Among the main characters are Candy Lady, representing sugar addiction; Pillman, symbolizing pill addiction; Fast Money, Gameboy, Pure Love, Lymphochair and others.

The Yoomoota Universe, a fictional cosmos, is helmed by the innovative multidisciplinary Bangkok-based artist Taras Yoom who describes chairs as «four-legged inhabitants of our house». This design is inspired by his invented Planet of Errors, where some inanimate objects acquire life.
Initially exploring art through 3D modeling, Yoom’s curiosity led him to experiment with various mediums like plaster, wood, glass, metal and acrylic paints. He shares his insights on storytelling through objects, the importance of color in expressing characters and the origins of his parallel universe, Yoomoota.
